This policy applies to information collected through birdwalktherapy.com and the Birdwalk Start Here inquiry process. If you become a client, additional privacy notices, informed-consent documents, recordkeeping policies, and confidentiality laws may apply.

When you complete the Start Here form or contact Birdwalk, you may provide:

- The type of support you are seeking
- Whether the inquiry concerns you, a child or teen, a family or relationship, an organization, or a physical space
- The age range of the person seeking services
- Preferences concerning in-person, telehealth, virtual, or on-site support
- General areas of concern or support
- Scheduling availability and preferred contact method
- Information concerning private-pay services or Self-Determination Program funding
- A short description of what you would like help with
- Other information you voluntarily provide in communications with Birdwalk
Some of this information may reveal health, disability, mental-health, family, caregiving, or sensory-related interests.

When you visit the website, Shopify and other technology providers may automatically collect information such as:
- Internet Protocol address

- Pages viewed and links selected
- Approximate location derived from technical information

- Date, time, and duration of website activity
- Cookie, analytics, and similar technology information
Communications
We may retain emails, text messages, voicemail information, and records of other communications you send to Birdwalk.

Submitting an inquiry does not automatically enroll you in marketing communications. Birdwalk does not use health-related information submitted through the Start Here form for targeted advertising.
4. Sensitive and health-related information
The Start Here form is intended to collect limited information for an initial inquiry and service-routing decision. It is not intended to collect a complete medical, mental-health, developmental, educational, or treatment history.
Birdwalk uses health- or disability-related inquiry information for intake, communication, service coordination, and related administrative purposes.
If you become a client, information maintained as part of your clinical or service record may be governed by separate notices, consents, confidentiality obligations, and applicable law.
5. Children’s information
The website and Start Here form are intended for adults, parents, caregivers, and authorized representatives.
Children under 13 should not submit personal information through the website themselves. A parent or legal guardian may submit an inquiry concerning a child.
If Birdwalk learns that personal information was submitted directly by a child under 13 without appropriate parental involvement, Birdwalk may delete the information. A parent or guardian may contact us to request review or deletion.
6. How we disclose information
Birdwalk may disclose information to service providers that help us operate the website and intake process, including:
- Shopify, which hosts the Birdwalk website
- Jotform, which hosts and processes the Start Here form
- Google Workspace, which supports Birdwalk email and internal communications
- Website, information-technology, security, analytics, and administrative service providers
- Practice-management, scheduling, payment, or record systems used if you proceed with services
- Professional advisers such as attorneys, accountants, insurers, and compliance consultants
These providers may process information only as permitted by their agreements, applicable law, and the services they provide.
Birdwalk may also disclose information:
- With your direction or authorization
- When required by law, subpoena, court order, licensing authority, or governmental request
- To protect a person from a serious or imminent threat where disclosure is permitted or required
- To investigate fraud, security incidents, misuse, or violations of law

Birdwalk does not sell personal information for money. Birdwalk does not sell or use Start Here inquiry information for behavioral advertising.
7. Cookies, analytics, and tracking
The website and its service providers may use cookies, pixels, analytics tools, and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, measure website use, maintain security, and understand how visitors interact with the site.
Third parties providing hosting, embedded forms, analytics, or other website functionality may collect information about website activity over time and, depending on their technology and settings, across different websites or services.
Browser “Do Not Track” signals are not governed by a uniform industry standard. The website does not currently respond to all Do Not Track signals. Birdwalk may honor other legally recognized browser or device privacy signals where required and supported by its website platform.
Cookie choices and other privacy controls may also be available through Shopify’s customer-privacy features when enabled.
8. Data retention
Birdwalk retains website and inquiry information for as long as reasonably necessary to:
- Review and respond to the inquiry
- Maintain administrative records
- Protect security and prevent misuse
- Comply with professional, legal, insurance, and regulatory obligations
- Establish or defend legal rights
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, whether services are initiated, and applicable law.
When information is no longer reasonably needed, Birdwalk may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it.

Birdwalk uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.
No website, email system, online form, or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Visitors should use care when deciding what information to transmit online.

You may contact Birdwalk to request that we:

- Provide access to information you submitted
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete information, subject to legal or professional retention requirements
- Address a privacy concern

Please include enough information for Birdwalk to identify the relevant inquiry or communication. Birdwalk may take reasonable steps to verify your identity or authority before acting on a request.
If you submitted information concerning a child or another person, Birdwalk may request information confirming your authority to make the request.

The Birdwalk website includes links to third-party websites, articles, podcasts, professional organizations, and other resources.
Birdwalk does not control those websites or their privacy practices. Visiting an external link is subject to the third party’s own policies and terms.
12. Changes to this policy
Birdwalk may update this Privacy Policy as its website, services, technology providers, or legal obligations change.
The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. When appropriate, Birdwalk may provide additional notice of material changes through the website or direct communication.
