About Birdwalk

A collective approach to everyday life.

Birdwalk Therapy Collective brings occupational therapy, mental health therapy, and sensory-informed design together in one collaborative practice. With in-person services in Arcadia and telehealth options where appropriate, we support individuals, families, schools, and organizations through care that begins with curiosity, honors each person’s lived experience, and supports meaningful participation in everyday life.

Why Birdwalk

Care, relationships, and environments all matter.

Daily life is shaped not only by individual skills, but also by emotional well-being, routines, relationships, and the spaces where people live, learn, work, and connect. Birdwalk brings these perspectives together through occupational therapy, mental health therapy, and sensory-informed design.

Olivia Martinez-Hauge, MA, OTR/L, LMFT

Occupational Therapist · Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist · Co-owner

Olivia is a licensed occupational therapist and licensed marriage and family therapist with more than two decades of experience in school-based services, private practice, mental health, family support, and professional education.

As a parent of three, including two neurodivergent children, Olivia brings both professional expertise and lived family perspective to her work. She is committed to accessibility, inclusion, and neuro-affirming care that respects each person’s strengths, needs, identity, and lived experience.

Olivia is also a regular speaker at professional conferences and universities, where she integrates occupational therapy, mental health, and the parent perspective.

Amanda Staples, MOT, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist · Co-owner

Amanda is a licensed occupational therapist with more than 18 years of experience working in school districts, private clinics, and community settings. She earned her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from Eastern Michigan University and completed undergraduate studies in psychology.

Her career has included supporting children and adults with a wide range of disabilities and neurodivergences, varied sensory and motor needs, and goals for participation in everyday life.

She has helped develop school-based occupational therapy programs, therapy spaces, interdisciplinary collaborations, and fine-motor and visual-motor supports.

Amanda’s connection to occupational therapy is also personal. Following complications at birth that affected the use of her left arm, she received occupational therapy as an infant and regained functional movement. That experience continues to inform her belief in the power of thoughtful, individualized support.

Her approach is collaborative, neuro-affirming, and grounded in supporting participation in the relationships, daily activities, and experiences that matter to each person.

Our approach

Neuro-affirming support shaped around the whole person.

Birdwalk begins with listening. We consider each person’s strengths, needs, identity, relationships, daily life, and environment without reducing anyone to a diagnosis or isolated concern. Our work is collaborative, practical, and grounded in supporting participation in the parts of life that matter to each person.
